Updates from CCC version 3.2 to 3.2.3

This page covers the updates, fixes and additions to the ccc application in version 3.2.

Additions and Changes to version 3.2.3

(July 12 2000) Now the menubar can be used inside a CAVE or idesk! Button#3 in the wand (the right one) now makes the menubar visible/invisible. To use this feature, select Interact using: menubar in VE in the starting window.

Additions to version 3.2.1:

(May 26 2000) Splash screen added, minor bug fixes, code and makefile cleanup.

A bug related to the synchronization of the objects in the world when two sites are connected has been fixed.

Additions to version 3.2:

A bug in storing the persistent state of the world was fixed. Two new commands added to the console:

Gravity attracts me to the floor:This options controls wether gravity will make you fall every time you are flying and stop moving. It is ON by fefault, and can be changed by the the corresponding option in the menu bar, or by issuing the verbal command "enable gravity" and "disable gravity".

Models Are solid: This option will enable and disable collision checking between objects and between your avatar and other objects. It is ON by default. To change it, select the corresponding menu item in the menu bar, or use "enable collision" and "disable collision" if you are using voice recognition.

Additions to version 3.1:

The one major addition is the creation of a login menu:

1. To run the ccc, you now enter the ccc32 directory and type startCCC.

2. You are now presented with many options:

 - Name:  whatever you want your name to appear as in the world.  By default it will use your username, but you can change this to be whatever you want for the purposes of the CCC.

 - I want to work alone: will mean that you cannot meet with other people in a common world somewhere.  If you want to work with others then keep the default of collaborating in world named limbo.  If there is another world you wish to use then replace limbo by this.

 - Connecting to:  to be the server or work alone keep the default.  To connect to someone else enter their computer address name (i.e. viz8.sv.vt.edu) or the IP address of the computer you want to connect to.

 - Running on: if you want the menu system then select desktop.  If you want the voice commands then select CAVE.  If you want to run voice commands you will have to have a separate voice recognition software package and you will need to run a "throw -p grammar" session.  For more information on this please refer to the voice recognition section of the ccc web page (address given at top).

 - Remove other people...: This option is a timeout option for deleting users that may have become inactive or have lost the connection. If you plan to wait a long time for someone while doing nothing then you may want to set this value to be quite high.  On the downside, if the value is high and the person becomes disconnected in a non-standard way (if they exit normally there is no problem), then your computer will still think they are they for a long time and will create multiple copies of them if they try to log in to the world again during this period.

 - Start the CCC: start your engines!!! :)

2. Enhancements and Fixes to version 3.1:

1.A memory bug was fixed such that it will no longer crash on some compiler versions.

2.Interpolation was incorporated into the Recording function to allow smoother recording (althuogh playback still depends on the speed of your processor).

3.Recording function was modified to allow jumps in the recording.  To suddenly move from one location to another without the recording interpolation trying to smooth it out simply push the puase button and move or teleport to wherever you wanted to go.  Then continue recording from there.  When playing back it will automatically note that you paused the recording and will not try to smooth out the jump.

4. Avatar height was made variable.  All hard coding of avatar height was removed and it is now measured.  This will allow later addition of different avatars.
