CCC_ATOM CAVE Commands

Other CCC_atom Links: Homepage / Desktop Commands

This page describes all the commands that can be used when using ccc_atom in a CAVE.  For more information on the atom file formats please see the atom file format page.

List of CCC_ATOM Commands:

Loading a Model:  Loading a model through the voice commands uses the following syntax:

computer load model minindex maxindex refinement please

where model is the name of the model you want to load, minindex is the smallest index number, maxindex is the largest index number and refinement is the number of polygons used for each atom model.  A good number to use for refinement is 32.  Higher numbers will give more precise models, but at the cost of slower graphics updates.  Lower numbers will give faster frame rates but lower model precision (at 20 the spheres start looking jagged).  NOTE:  All models must be placed within a "atommodels" directory off of the ccc_atom directory.   This was done since each client has their own copies of the models and the simulation must know where to go and get them each time (even if somebody else loads the model).  As an example of the syntax, suppose you had a series of models called Test.31 through Test.45.  You would load them as follows:

computer load Test 31 45 32 please

The CCC_ATOM commands are accessed through the wand and their status is displayed in the top left-hand corner of the display.  At the beginning you are put in navigation mode by default.  You may press any button to switch modes.  The modes are:

Scaling Atoms:  This mode will allow the joystick part of the wand to increase or decrease the scale of the individual atoms.  A scale of 0 to 100 is used.
Scaling Model:  This mode will allow the joystick part of the wand to increase or decrease the scale of the entire model.  A scale of 0 to 100 is used.
Time Change:  This mode allows the user to access the different file indexes that have been loaded.  By using hte joystick poart of the wand the different models corresponding to different periods in time are shown in an interpolated continuous series.
Navigation:  This mode allows you to move the avatar in the standard CCC fashion.
